White is the traditional bride colour, signifying purity and virginity. However, more and more brides are opting for a colour that they feel represents them better. Not in a virtuous, sense, of course, but if you love a certain colour so, then why not have it as your wedding dress?
A wedding dress is simply a dress to wear on your wedding day, and whilst most women will think of white and veil, some might be toying with the idea of having another colour, pattern or style. We say why not! The most important thing is that you’re comfortable and feeling your best on your big day and whether that’s wearing a white gown or not, it really shouldn’t matter.
Brides are now opting for patterned dresses, especially floral, for their wedding day. Floral is a lovely choice as it still retains the girly, dress up feel but on your terms. Another way of having some colours included in your wedding dress is to have a petticoat or sash of a different colour. Some dresses also come in two parts, the overlay and the slip underneath. You could have the slip underneath in a different colour, so whilst you still have the white on top you have accents of colour coming through.
